Chlamydia and Gonorrhea

If you have had chlamydia/gonorrhea and were treated in the past, you can get infected again if you have
unprotected sexual contact with someone who is infected. If you are pregnant, you can pass chlamydia/gonorrhea
to your baby during a vaginal delivery.

Symptoms: Many people who are infected with chlamydia and/or gonorrhea have no symptoms. Symptoms may include the following:

For Men:

  • Burning sensation when urinating;
  • White, yellow, or green discharge from penis;
  • Pain and swelling in one or both testicles (less common).

For Women:

  • Painful or burning sensation when urinating;
  • Increased/Abnormal vaginal discharge;
  • Vaginal bleeding between periods.

If you are sexually active and have any of the following risk factors, you should be tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea every year.

  • Gay or bisexual women and men
  • Men who have sex with other men
  • Have a new sex partner
  • Have multiple sex partners
  • Have a sex partner who has a STD
  • You are pregnant
